Quotes:

“And so my goal really was to bring people in and what better way than to with stories... I try to give my feelings in a situation, but I also tried to describe it in as accurately or as detailed in a way that I could. So that you would feel as though you were there and perhaps then maybe you might experience it, not just through my eyes, but also with whatever you're bringing to the table.“

“My parents’ lives were enriched by their Italian experience. I grew up with an appreciation for Italy, particularly its food, eating more pasta than sauerkraut and knowing what al dente meant before it was in vogue. I was an americana americana with an affinity for the Italian culture."

“'L’ospite è sacro.' The guest is sacred. This Italian expression comes from the Greeks who believed it was man’s duty to welcome strangers. Calabrians feel as though they own this proverb through their heritage, and often the hospitality involves food in great quantities.”
